A Poem by Martin Willitts, Jr.

Pisces Constellation

Note: Greek: Ikhthyes (the Fishes); Sumerian: KU (the Fish)

When stars swim, it is time to cast out nets of regret.
When blackness swallows light, our hearts are gills.

The stream of spawning stars
are on a mating run where only a few survive.

Where are the dead among this swimming?
What continues when everything ends?

Where do these treacherous rapids end?
